Super Mario Wonder multiplayer: How to play cooperatively with your friends?

While Super Mario Bros. Wonder has just been released, you may be wondering how to play with your friends to take full advantage of its features. We explain how to activate co-op mode, and especially what to expect when you play Mario Wonder with others!

How do I play multiplayer in Mario Wonder?

Super Mario Wonder

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you can of course play alone controlling the character of your choice, but also play with friends, with up to 4 simultaneous players. Moreover, if you are going to try local multiplayer, there is nothing easier to set up! Indeed, all you have to do is start a game. You will then be redirected to a screen asking you to choose the number of players, with a maximum of 4 participants. Then, each player will have to connect their joystick or Joy-Cons.

With this done, you can fight to choose your favorite character from the 12 options offered, namely: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Red Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, Sky Blue Yoshi, and Carottin. All you have to do is validate your choice to launch the introduction of the game and start the first level alongside your friends!

Play multiplayer online
To play online multiplayer, there are several possibilities. For example, you can open the main menu with +, and select the network connection at the bottom right of the screen (the Wi-Fi icon). Alternatively, you can contact Mr. Rézo on the world map, who will open the online game screen. This will allow you to connect, and access the game mode with friends.

In this game mode, you can create or join rooms to play with friends and family. You will be able to see which stages they are in from the world map, and join them to help them, provided you have already unlocked the world and the internship in question. Each room can have up to 12 players, but only 4 players can play simultaneously. In addition, you will be able to see the live shadows of players from all over the world as you walk through the various stages, and sometimes they can even help you!

How does Mario Wonder’s multiplayer mode work?

When playing multiplayer, player 1 is designated as group leader, which results in a crown over their head. It will be transferred to another participant if that participant dies. The camera will then be attached to that character, and any player who strays away from that point of view will turn into a ghost, like when you fall into the void or take too much damage while being small. When you are a ghost, you have 5 seconds to touch another player to come back to life. If you succeed, you will regain the powers you had before, such as the effects of mushrooms, flowers, and even the elephant form.

If your teammates are too far away, know that they can prevent the worst by putting up signs with their image that ghosts can touch to come back to life. However, if all the players unfortunately turn into ghosts, you will lose a life. Note that the panels feature is also valid for online gaming, as players around the world can see your panels and vice versa. They will appear gray at first, but you only need to touch them to activate them. Do not hesitate to place them in dangerous places to help other players!
